Let’s Protect Our Nature

Natural environment provides us with a wide range of ‘ecosystem services’. All the things that people need and want that come from the natural world of which human beings are a part. Healthy ecosystems can purify the air specially and also clean the water, maintain the soil, regulate the climate, recycle nutrients and provide provisioning services such as food, fiber, energy, raw materials, medicine and building materials etc. This is very vital as they are the foundation of all civilizations.

The earth is the only planet that man can call home, so we must love and take care of it. When man refuses to acknowledge his responsibility to care for nature, destruction occurs. Devastation happens either by omission or commission. Animals and plants also face risks because man destroys their natural habitats and kills them. Plant life is essentially destroyed by continuous cutting of trees and burning of grasslands. Animals become endangered or extinct because of irresponsible hunting. The bacterial and chemical contamination of water systems as well as oil exploration endangers both animal and plant life. Due to the changes in nature, some species of animals are determined to either adapt or die. The atmosphere is being damaged by pollution. Global warming takes place and it destroys land masses as the sea level is rising because of increasing temperatures cause melting glaziers. And also, it causes the growth and rapid spread of different kinds of bacteria and viruses.

There are people who directly responsible for the devastation in our surrounding while there are people who do not even think about it. However, it is not too late to care for the environment. Though the man cannot make the Earth’s Ozone layer whole again, we can prevent its further ruin by solving the issues of pollution and global warming. Even though we cannot bring back the animal species that have become extinct, we can still take measurements to protect the endangered animals and make sure that other animals are out of harm’s way. Reforestation is also not impossible. There are many simple things we can do to help protect the nature.

 Plant trees.

 Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

 Refuse single-use items.

 Use reusable bags made of clothes instead of plastic & polythene.

 Use reusable food and beverage containers - invest on a reusable

 water bottle and lunch box.

 Stop or reduce your use of disposable plastics.

 Save water and electricity.

 Save energy.

 Avoid taking cars and carpool when possible.

 Avoid products with microbeads.

 Make sure your waste ges to the right place.

 Compost.

 Plant your own vegetable garden or support your local farmer’s market.

 Volunteer at an Earth Day event or volunteer for cleanups in your community or host your own event to clean and beautify your community.

The Earth is made for co-habitation and the pursuit of man’s advancement of technology and all other things that thrive on it should not destroy the biodiversity. Nature provide what man needs and man should be responsible to take care of nature.

If we want our future generations to enjoy living on the planet, we should be responsible to protect the earth now. It is never too late. While one person may not make a big impact on the environment by himself, the collective simple efforts of many people can help save the nature. Everyone should do their share. Our planet Earth is a paradise and we  should take care of it in every way.
